		<abstract>The Transbrasiliano Lineament (TBL) is a major NE trending shear zone related to the Brasiliano orogeny and evolved through high to low temperature stages. In this study, the structural signature of the northern segment of TBL was studied in the northeast border of the Parnaíba Basin (PB), between Ceará and Piauí states. At a high T stage, the mylonitic shear zone displays an S-C arrangement at the macroscale denoting a dextral strike slip kinematics which is corroborated by outcrop data. The late, low T ductile-brittle stage of the TBL controls the deposition of the ediacaran-cambrian Jaibaras Group in a pull-apart basin. The Jaibaras basin, as well as older neoproterozoic sequences, is overlain through a major non-conformity by the post-ordovician sedimentary sequences of the PB. In this region, remote sensing data attest a brittle reactivation stage of TBL on the basis of conspicuous lineaments in its southwestern continuation, mostly overprinting the Silurian-Devonian Serra Grande Group and the Devonian-Early Carboniferous Canindé Group. At the PB border, the Serra Grande sandstones were down dropped inside the Jaibaras pull-apart graben by an extensional reactivation of the late Brasiliano dextral strike slip faults. The analysis of SRTM images allowed to map different NE, NW and E-W trending lineaments in the PB, whose correlation with mesoscopic structures is discussed in terms of the TBL Brasiliano polyphase evolution and later reactivations associated to distal late Paleozoic orogenic events as well as the stages of the Atlantic opening and separation between South America and Africa.</abstract>
